I started running in June 2023 after downloading the Coach to 5K app. Before that, I genuinely couldn’t run for more than 30 seconds without getting a stitch, so the idea of being a “runner” felt completely out of reach. But step by step, the distances grew - from my first 10K event in September 2023, to my first half marathon in Edinburgh in May 2024, and eventually the full Edinburgh Marathon in May 2025.
It’s taken time, patience, and a lot of learning along the way, but I’ve genuinely fallen in love with running. One thing I’ve realised is that many people say they “can’t run” usually when they’ve never really given it a proper go. Not liking running is completely fair - but you might be surprised by what you’re capable of if you try.
