5 x Tips for SOBER OCTOBER!

5 x Tips for SOBER OCTOBER!

I'm sure you're already aware of the concept of Sober October - a challenge where participants commit to abstaining from alcohol (and often other substances like caffeine, sugar, or tobacco) for the entire month of October. The idea is to take a break from habits that might negatively impact physical and mental well-being, promoting healthier living and self-discipline.

This reset can provide a chance to reflect on your relationship with substances and potentially continue with healthier habits even after October ends.

The challenge can serve as an initial first step towards cutting down or out alcohol completely, as it's seen in society as an "acceptable reason" for not drinking at an event - and means you don't need to fully commit to a life of sobriety if you're not quite ready.

So, if you are thinking about taking part in Sober October, here are my top 5 tips!

1. Don't give a F**K what others think.
First and foremost, you are doing this for YOU!  I understand that it is difficult not to worry about what others think of us and our actions, but you need to remember in the long run, that this is good for your health!

2. Grab yourself a TRACKER
Trackers can be a huge motivation in the early days - it's a great feel crossing off each day as you complete it.  You can get a digital download HERE, or a physical tracker HERE.  There are lots of apps out there too if you'd prefer to keep a track on your phone.

3. Read some "Quit Lit"
Basically books about alcohol; what it does to your body and other people's stories.  These were (and still are!) a huge part of my journey - I found it so helpful to read what even 1 glass of wine can do to you.  There are so many great books out there - I have put together a list of some of my favourite HERE.

4. Pour yourself an Alcohol Free Drink
Let's face it, alcohol free drinks are never going to taste the same as alcoholic drinks, so let's stop comparing them so closely!  For me, it's about pouring something tasty and a bit different, into a nice glass with ice and a garnish (if I'm feeling fancy!).

I have tried ALOT of drinks and I would say my all time favourite is a good KOMBUCHA (and not the type you buy from a supermarket shelf - proper stuff that you need to keep in the fridge).

There are SO many options out there though! You can get 10% off a £30 spend with DryDrinker HERE or you can have a look at some other discount codes HERE.

Understandably, these can be a trigger for some people, so please do stay away if you think that might be you.
